All of our members are located here in the Pacific Northwest. Although we are based in Portland, OR, we have members in southern Oregon and a few as far north as Seattle, WA. GZPDX was originally formed for the sole purpose of connecting with other local enthusiasts due to the lack of a community for our cars, therefore we ask that our members be local in order to maintain that close connection, interaction, and community.
We are located in the Pacific Northwest, an area that doesn't see dry weather for very long within a year, however we aim to organize local gathers in the form of cruises, meet and greets, dinner, attending local events together, and ultimately hosting events of our own.
While we may not socialize in person as often as we would all like to, a majority of our community's activity comes in the form of social media.
We love our cars; we have an interest in cars in general. Whether we're die-hard gearheads or we just like to drive our cars, we all share a common interest that has brought us all together. We're here to socialize, learn, educate, and overall just have fun with our cars. We each have different backgrounds, interests, and experiences that have brought us to enjoy our cars the way we do.
There are many reasons and events that led up to the formation of GZPDX. It was surprising how the Portland area didn't already have a community for these particular cars. The online forums were a starting point for organizing local meet-ups, but unfortunately nothing was ever successfully organized. GZPDX was formed soonafter. On November 3rd, 2013, a Facebook group was started that would make communication much easier amongst one another.
In only about 3/4 of a year we've grown to 150+ members, and that number's steadily increasing and we're becoming a bigger and more serious group of enthusiasts. We hope to legitimize the group and become as big as many of the other local car clubs here in the Pacific Northwest.
With an array of unique backgrounds and skills, we have the skillset to do a lot for both ourselves and our community.
